D-E-N-M-A-R-K

Hey Guys, have you missed me? Well it's been a LOOOOOOOOONNNNG time since I blogged, so I decided I'll do a new blog post. If you are subscribed to me on YouTube then you know I have recently also been to Hong Kong - if you didn't know I go to Hong Kong every year and last year I kind of blogged about it, but this year of course I didn't blog about it, as it was only a short trip and I didn't do much other than visit family.

Also, I have announced this to my YouTube channel yet, but I'm going to take a break from YouTube as I really want to concentrate on my school work as I'm in Year 11 this year which is a big year as I have to do all my GCSEs and stuff... But of course I will still blog. I'll blog once in a while like I used too.

If you need to contact me then of course my social media will be linked below and can be found easily.

Ok.... Now let's get on with this Denmark post!

We didn't stay in Hong Kong for long this year (we usually go for a month but this year we only went for three weeks). We came back early this year because we was supposed to be going on a cruise to Spain, but that didn't happen. And then we were supposed to go on a caravan weekend trip and that also didn't happen, because we rented the caravan and the owner of the caravan went on holidays and forgot to leave the key behind for the caravan. SO YEAH. Since the weekend trip didn't work out, we managed to find cheap flights to Denmark - return tickets £60 per person. WHAT A BARGAIN. So we was like YES WE ARE GOING!

On the 26th August at 01:00AM we drove from Wales to London Stansted Airport (it took around 3 hours), we arrived at the airport around 4 or 5ish, I'm not sure I don't really remember but our flight was at 7:00AM, and you have to be early for your flight so yah.

There was hardly any air turbulence on the flight, so it wasn't like a rollercoaster like when I came home from Hong Kong. It was a lovely direct flight with no bumps. The pilot was lovely as he arrived 10 minutes before schedule also there we clear skies.

The airport was next to a lot fields. So when we were landing I got to take a few pictures.

We arrived at Billund Airport - which was a very small airport, unlike others. Going though immigration was very different too. I don't know how to explain this myself but its really unusual for an airport because you know how crazy some immigration desks are around the world.

As soon as we landed we had to go to the Europcar desk to rent a car. There were 8 of us altogether so we rented a big car - a nine seater one in fact and it was basically like a mini bus. It was absolutely massive!

We were planning to go to Copenhagen also, but a drive from Billund to Copenhagen would be three hours. If you don't know where Copenhagen is, its basically the capital of Denmark and its gorgeous. If we drove to Copenhagen the car rental would be a little more expensive also because the rental of the car was by how many miles we drove - which is pretty weird, I agree. So our next trip soon maybe Copenhagen itself. Woo! I ca't wait because I absolutely enjoyed this trip to Billund, Denmark

As soon as we got the car we left the airport and within five mintues away from the airport there was Legoland and directly across to Legoland Billund was the place where was staying - Lalandia. The Legoland, Billund Holiday Village was opposite Lalandia. If I'm correct Billund Airpot was opened by Lego. If you didn't know Lego is from Denmark - which I didn't know and I was really shocked when I found out! Also Legoland Billund Resort was the first ever Legoland too! WHICH I ALSO DIDN'T KNOW but now I do!

Because was wasn't allowed to check in to our house in Lalandia until 3PM. And we landed in Denmark at 10AM. We decided we'd go to the local supermarket to get some food before we headed to Lalandia to claim the place we are staying in for the next five days. In the town of Billund, there are like three supermarkets right opposite each other. It's really weird but I suppose that is how Danish people like it!

We went to the biggest supermarket nearby which was 'ABC Lavpris Supermarked' as you can see. It does look pretty small in the image above but your wrong.
'Don't judge a book by its cover'
There's like two parts of the supermarket and its really big. The trolleys in Denmark are really different to the ones we have in UK too, they have normal shopping carts like we have but they also have some pretty damn cool baskets when you pull from behind.

You see what I mean? My youngest cousin Hunter in the image above shows us a demonstration how he uses the cool basket He decided to go under the handle and pretend to be a horse and carriage type. My cousin is just super cute! We got a lot of vegetables and fruit while we were there too because you know we have to have those 5 a days! We bought snacks, milk, yogurt, all that kind of stuff you will find in your house.
Our shopping bill eventually came to 599 krona. Which is around £60 in UK pounds. 1Krona was like £1 basically.

Ok, one more thing about the supermarket is that. Germany is super close to Denmark and yano, Haribo is founded in Germany...

Taa Daaaah, basically there's just a massive section of Harbios in the supermarket. Literally everything is Haribos. It's either Haribos or Licorice. In my opinion I prefer Harbios than Licorice. When we finished shopping, it was still to early to go back to Lalandia so we stopped nearby to the fast food shop known as 'Time Out'. Damn, this place is da bomb!

The hot dogs they sell here are absolutely delicious. I recommend you come to this place if you ever get a chance to go to Denmark, Billund because you definitely DO NOT want to miss out on these gorgeous hot dogs! We was all very hungry so we stopped by and thought why not get a hotdog!
Once we had our hotdog it was still not time to go and check into our holiday house we was going to stay in so we decided we'd stop by at Lalandia Resort and see what was around, in the indoor resort. And believe me or not, the indoor resort is absolutely gorgeous! (How many times have I said 'absolutely gorgeous' in this blog already)?

Actually when we tried to get back to Lalandia, we got lost on the way and we drove around the Lego factory - where all the Lego stuff is made. You couldn't really enter the Lego factory - even if your willing to pay or is super rich you still wouldn't be able to go in and have a sneaky peek. Apparently every year, the Lego factory people pick three or five people to have a tour around of the factory. But whilst we got lost I manged to take a picture with the sign.

Please ignore the state I am in, I currently have braces and can't really smile properly and I just had a super long night..
Ok. Back to reality and Lalandia....

How do you feel about this resort already? Gorgeous right. Don't be an idiot now and think those clouds are real like what my uncle did - he walked in and went 'Ashley, why is it so gloomy in here, outside ain't like this. Is that sky real' and I instantly replied with a 'No, are you being silly!' Inside the resort it was like a mini city. It was gorgeous. It reminded me of Italy quite a lot (although I haven't been to Italy before, but I would love to go there some time soon)! When we got into the resort we looked around to see what activities we could do and stuff.

When we came out of Lalandia there was still an hour left before we could go and check in so we just stayed in the car outside the Lalandia resort car park as both of my cousin were sleeping. So we thought it was a good time to get an hours rest before we checked in, left our cases there have a little bit of food then go for a swim in the gorgeous Lalandia Aquadome!

Lalandia Aquadome is literally the place you can spend the whole day. When I saw pictures of Lalandia Aquadome my mouth was wide open, because I love swimming and I love waterparks!

Wave Machine
You see what I mean, when I say you can actually stay there for the whole day? There's actually two 6 more waterslides which I didn't take photos of. The 6 other slides were too big for my cousins to go on so, we had to go on the little ones, however my family and I went on the big ones and we took turns to look after my two cousins! Lalandia Aquadome is like the best family day out ever!

When we finished going swimming, we found out that you could catch like a mini train back to your holiday home, so my two cousins (Flo and Marcus), my mother and aunt, drove back to the holiday house and my uncle and my two other cousins (Flo and Marcus' children - Xavier and Hunter) caught the miniature train back home. As you can see on the map in the image above, Lalandia was a massive place full of holiday homes and our holiday house was located at the very end - number 208. And we asked the train driver which stop would we get off and he said 'second stop' so we got off at the 'second stop' like he said and 'tried' to walk back home. BUT instead, we got lost. We walked to the wrong 208 house. Because Lalandia is separated into 3 different types of houses and we rented a house that could fit 10 people and our holiday house was at the end.

So, when we thought we found our holiday house number 208 now, we walked there, there we realized it was a bit different so then we found out we got lost! :/ So we asked people nearby how we could go back to the correct 208 house. I took us like half an hour to actually get back and we realized that you was actually supposed to get off on the THIRD stop. Not First, Not Second, THIRD stop. But ever since that evening we never caught one of those trains back to our holiday home, in case you didn't know why again. We got lost! And we didn't want to get lost again. The others went back to prepare food for us because it was getting a little late if you know what I mean. We didn't really go anywhere else then after that because everywhere was shut. Shops close pretty early in Denmark so we just stayed home and had a rest.

The next day (Day 2), we decided we would go to a little town called Ribe, it's an old town and we decided to there and spend our evening but before we headed to Ribe, we went to the Legoland Hotel, and Legoland Hotel is pretty damn impressive if I'm honest.

Inside the Lego Hotel there's so many Lego men made by Lego obviously and a massive dragon treehouse, basically it was an 'you have to be there' experience if you know what I mean, we literally spent like an hour in the Lego Hotel because I was taking so many selfies with my family in the Lego Hotel and my two cousins were so amazed by the Lego that they didn't want to leave, because there is so many Lego everywhere!

The Legoland Hotel rooms are really decent too, each floor had a different theme basically. But I only took a picture outside the pirate themed hotel, next time when we come back to Billund Legoland you definitely know where I'll be staying... The Legoland Hotel obviously because it's pretty damn cool.

Since we spent like an hour or two in the Legoland Hotel we then took an hours drive to Ribe, another town. Once again there were so many supermarkets around and since my two cousins were tired out from all that Lego in the Lego Hotel we decided we stop by at a supermarket for like a toilet stop and to get some more food for that night. When we got into the supermarket they had like a mini cafe and I couldn't resist to have a hot dog! The hotdog was absolutely gorgeous (Cerys, if your reading this, I hope this hotdog doesn't remind you of my jumbo sausage I had before! :/), but anyways there was a hella lot of ketchup in my hotdog too, and this hot dog as only 10krona basically £1.

After we had our toilet break and finished shopping we then headed to the town of Ribe, we went to Ribe because we saw in a book that there was a nightguard's walk every night - so we decided to go there.

The town of Ribe is so beautiful and quiet, it's probably quiet because we didn't arrive until 5PM. All the shops were closed too although my aunt and mother really wanted to do some shopping while they were there because they saw some really nice shoes.

Walking, further along down in Ribe there was also a river, the river was gorgeous also and there were many boats on the side. Near the river was also an Ice Cream Parlour and you wouldn't have guessed where we went....

Since we was too early for the Night Guard's Walk we decided to stop by an ice cream parlour and have some ice cream obviously! We all had an ice cream each and it was delicious. I had a soft ice, ice cream with sprinkles - however as you can see in the picture theres WAY to much sprinkles and I kinda felt a little sickly after that.
Writing about my ice cream makes me really want to go back to Ribe and have another soft ice, ice cream because they were so damn good! :( I miss Ribe already!

Opposite the Ice Cream parlour, there was also a small walk in gallery too and it was really pretty there and they had a lot of pictures of the town and of course, the amazing cat too! As soon as we got our of the art gallery it started to rain so then we decided to go back to the Ice Cream parlour to get sheltered from the rain.

Nearby was also a cathedral. It was a very big cathedral indeed - however once again it was closed so we didn't managed to go in and have a cheeky sneak peek. We do go to a lot of cathedrals when we are on holidays. If you remember, I also visited the cathedral in Iceland too when I went! Oh, I just love these European holidays!

At 8PM that night, we had the night guards walk, but it was tipping down and I was moody (I won't go too much into detail why I was moody, it was basically because of the rain and I literally hate getting soaked by the rain)! However, we walked for like 20 minutes with the night guard but then Xavier said he was getting cold so then we decided we'd go back to the car and go back home! FINALLY AT LAST! I didn't take any pictures of the night guard because I was cold and I didn't really wanna move, all I wanted was to go home.

Day 3 was a good day, we basically went to Legoland Billund! We spent the whole day there basically (it closes at 5PM, soo). We left our holiday house at 9am and we walked to Legoland, it only took like 5 minutes because our holiday house is directly across to Legoland. When we got there, there was a queue to get tickets - we didn't get tickets online because we didn't know which days we was going because on the weather forecast it said it was raining, so we decided we'd go to Legoland when it is sunny.

Because we went pretty early, the end of the park was basically empty because tourists usually haven't made their way through the park yet but we decided we'd start from the back and walk to the front if you know what I mean. At the back of the park, Legoland just opened this Star Wars lego thing, since my cousin Xavier loves Star Wars we'd decided we'd take a visit there first. Afterwards my aunt, uncle and mother decided to go on a rollercoaster and my cousins went somewhere else because Xavier and Hunter were to little to go on the rollercoaster. The rollercoaster was super fun and there were some unexpected parts of the ride too, which made it super fun!

After we went on the rollercoaster, Xavier and I decided to pair up and go on this ride and damn it was hard to control, basically we had to drive a fire engine to the place that was burning down and we had to pump water to set out the fire (its fake fire by the way), of course Xavier is a weakling and I was getting very tired because I was being very competitive with the other teams especially my mothers team - she had Hunter and my uncle on her team, so of course Xavier and I were going to do really badly. Eventually we cheated lol and we went back to the station before them, so we pretty much won!

The next ride which nobody decided to go on, was the Egyptian House, since nobody was on that ride Xavier and I decided to go on twice. It was basically a ride where'd you shoot things and no get any prizes for however high of a score you get! We went on a lot of rides! Xavier really wanted to go to the ghost house, so we decided to go there next and damn. I pooped my pants hahha. I was the first one to walk into the haunted house, ok. It's dark in the haunted house now and a worker from no where decided to come out of nowhere and I literally screamed and ran straight out and I haven't properly been to the scary parts of the house yet! The person that was behind the door wasn't even supposed to be behind there, but he was... sooo...

It was soon time for Lunch and Hunter decided to feed the ducks, there were lots of ducks and all the ducks were really friendly so we decided to feed them and eventually Hunter decided to chase them to the river - luckily he has the common sense to not go i the river because usually when he sees water he goes crazy!

After lunch, we went on even more rides and we took a stroll through the Lego miniature figure houses of each country - which is very popular indeed. We walked around there and then we decided we'd go and get Xavier and Hunter a driving licence but they were too young too and I was too old! :(

After we had a walk around we'd decided we'd go into the aquarium to look at some sea life before the 4D show started. I found the seahorses super cute and I held a starfish, they feel so weird. A crab nearly pinched my cousins fingers also!

Before, we left the park and headed back to Lalandia Aquadomee (yes, we went swimming after we went to Legoland because Aquadome doesn't close until 7PM). I met Emmet which is one of the characters from the Lego Movie if you haven't seen it. Basically 'EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!' Xavier didn't meet Emmet because he was too busy shopping for Lego. I wanted to get Frozen lego but my mother wouldn't let me sadly - am I really getting too old for Lego? Like I'm on 15, Ok. I'm 16 in October.

Once, Xavier and Hunter finished picking out what Lego he wanted, we decided to get ICE CREAM and damn, we've literally had ice cream everyday now since we've been in Denmark! The ice cream is genuinely delicious! Hunter had a dinosaur Legoland cup with a scoop of rainbow icecream and some soft cream.

And what did I have?
I had a Daim Soft Ice Cone and damnnnnnnnnn it was hella good, it was absolutely gorgeous!

And yes, that was our day out Legoland, then we went back to our holiday home and got our swimming stuff and we went to Lalandia Aquadome to go swimming, it was a very good tiring day indeed, but I'm not complaining because I had soooooooo much fun!

Day 4 we went to Givskud Zoo, the first stop was to see the Buffalos, Elephants and Camels. There were three elephants and they were super cute, 2 were eating and one was showing off playing football. I love Elephants!

Then we went on a drive thru safari, we saw African and North American animals, the giraffes were my favorite animal though! We saw lots of animals, but I didn't take many pictures of them. When we went to see the gorillas, they were being VERY SEXUAL. I'm not going to go into too much detail, but they were being very sexual indeed. We also went into the monkey kingdom and there monkeys were sooo cute, I literally wanna take them home!

We had lunch in the back of the boot, we basically opened the doors of the boot and sat in there. We brought food with us so we had a little crave. Afterwards we went to the dinosaur park and Xavier started feeling a bit unwell. So we decided to head home. We were home around 4PM, the zoo was really close the our holiday house as well, 20 minutes drive, so yeah.

When we went home, guess what we done again? You guessed. We went to Lalandia Aquadome again. It's just too fun! But sadly Xavier didn't come with us because he was feeling unwell, so he stayed home and had a rest. We had plans to have ice cream too and the ice cream parlour shut at 9PM. So we went straight home from the water park and had tea and after tea we drove to the ice cream parlour obviously and have ice cream.

Once again I had a soft ice, but with mix strawberry and vanilla ice cream and nuts for topping (better than have sprinkles)!

Day 5 was our last day, we woke up around 9AM, then we packed and got our stuff ready and of course had breakfast and headed out to the town - once again the shops were closed so we just had a walk then we went back to our holiday home and went to the water park for the last time before we said goodbye to the lovely place we stayed in!

Whilst we was at town, there was a cake shop that was open and the cakes they sold there were lovely!

We left our holiday home at 6:30 because our flight was at 11PM. I had to say goodbye to the planes we saw every morning because when I come back to UK I don't literally live like 5 minutes away from an airport! :(

And yeah, that was basically my trip to Denmark, Billund.
If you ever have a chance to go to Denmark, I definitely would recommend it! Danish people are lovely and kind and the country is just beautiful!
